Visualizing Responsibility: My Infographic on Digital Privacy

For this task, I created an informational infographic focusing on an ethical issue in technology use. The goal was to present important ideas in a clear, engaging, and visually effective way that could inform my peers.

My Topic: Safety and Privacy

I chose safety and privacy because it is one of the most relevant issues in today’s digital world. Students constantly share personal information online, often without fully understanding the risks. In my infographic, I explained what digital privacy is, why it matters, and how personal data can be misused. I also included examples such as oversharing on social media and weak password practices, along with practical tips like enabling two-factor authentication and being cautious about public Wi-Fi.

I used Canva to design my infographic. It was user-friendly and offered many templates, icons, and color palettes. However, one challenge I faced was balancing text and visuals. At first, I included too much text, which made the design look crowded. I had to revise it by simplifying explanations and using icons to represent ideas. Choosing consistent fonts and colors also required careful attention to maintain visual harmony.

Infographics can be very beneficial in the English classroom because they make complex information easier to understand. They support visual learners and help students focus on key ideas without getting overwhelmed by long texts.

Creating infographics also allows students to develop multiple skills. They practice summarizing information, organizing ideas, and thinking critically about how to present content clearly. At the same time, they improve their digital literacy and creativity.
